My husband weighs 375 pounds, 61 years old, high blood pressure for which he is taking medications, one of which causes him to have swelling in his feet and legs, and water weight gain for which he takes diuretics. He never used to have a problem losing weight. we eat lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grain, less red meat, more turkey and chicken, drink lots of water; he tries to exercise on a recumbent bike 4 or 5 times a week for 20 minutes (he has arthritis in his back, knees and ankles, with spinal stenosis and bulging discs, degenerative disk disease, so walking and exercise are difficult). but with changing our eating habits and trying to increase activity, he still has not lost a pound. Would Cylapril be okay for him to take with HBP? He was also diagnosed with a couple benign growths on his kidneys and I’m wondering if these might be affecting his adrenal glands. His doctor is not proactive in monitoring or recommending anything to help with weight loss, except eat less, exercise more. I am worried about his quality of life and failing health and am frustrated because I have changed how I cook but nothing is helping.
